Making the most of your spare bedroom
Monday, August 4, 2014 by SEO Service
The spare bedroom has often found itself as the centre for storage, the forgotten world of decor. All the bits and bobs that you don’t have room for elsewhere will usually be stashed there to be kept out of the way, but what do you do when you finally have guests round to stay? Here are some ways to keep your spare bedroom in ship-shape.
Clear up the mess
If you have lots of
clutter piled around the room it might be an opportunity for you to have a nice
clear out and get rid of those bits you don’t need anymore. You don’t need to
spend a huge amount of time clearing-up - tackle it in bite-size stints and
you’ll have a clearer room i no time. You can buy some helpful storage units
from most high street stores which will make your job a whole lot easier. Big
box shelves are useful as you can add baskets, boxes and trays to help keep
everything in order.
Room dividers
If the room is big
enough, adding a Room Divider is a great way to segregate a storage space and a
sleeping space, meaning guests can have somewhere to stay and still utilise the
room for storing those things you definitely, absolutely cannot get rid of. A
quick way to divide the room is to buy a shelf with separate cubby holes, this
will both act as a way to store things and part the room.
Add a sofa bed
You can save plenty of
space in your spare bedroom by adding a sofa bed instead of a full one. It
saves space during the day as it’s tucked away into a sofa - and provides
seating - and can be easily extended in the evenings. You can usually find
plenty of options online and at home stores like DFS and Matalan.
Sofa beds provide a decent living space during the day when in sofa form as
well - we recommend chesterfield sofa beds as they are hand-crafted and easy to
manage.
Be creative
As the main rooms’ ugly
cousin, the spare room is often left and forgotten about, hiding a looming pile
of rubbish behind a closed door. Turn things on their head and make it a good
place to be - get creative, decorating, adding touches like wall-stickers,
splashes of colour and great lighting. Places like Ikea have some great
lighting ideas that can get that spare room becoming a welcoming place to be.
Bear this in mind when you’re finding your next house to rent.
Make it a Guest Room
It’s the little things
that can make a big difference in a home; transform your spare room into
somewhere great for guests to stay. Add some fresh, clean towels as well as
toiletries and perhaps some magazines. Make it a space people like to spend
time in and feel comfortable using as a bedroom during their stay.
So there you have it. It
can be easy to think of the spare bedroom as just a ‘spare room’, but there are
always ways you can spruce it up and help guests feel more comfortable.
